Dress Code/Uniforms

Purpose

As Catholics, we know that each person is a union of body and soul.  With that understanding, we believe in the importance of honoring that union with appropriate dress and appearance. Our dress code is also a symbol of unity as a SCSA family and demonstrates pride in our school. Uniformity in dress helps students avoid the distractions associated with fashion, so that they may focus on developing their individual personalities and academic skills. 

General Guidelines

We ask parents to support the school in adhering to the dress code. In cases where a question arises, decisions will be left to the discretion of the Head of School. Repeated failure to correctly follow the basics of the dress code will result in a call to the parents and disciplinary action and, if necessary, disciplinary action. Should anyone have trouble obtaining uniform pieces, please reach out to the school as we are happy to help.

  • Uniforms should be clean and in good repair.

  • All shirts must be tucked in throughout the school day. 

  • Additional non-uniform clothing may not be worn in classrooms; only uniform sweaters and jackets may be worn in class. 

  • Plain white t-shirts or camisoles may be worn under shirts and blouses.

  • Simple, non-distracting jewelry may be worn.

  • All hair should be of a natural color, neat, clean and out of one’s eyes.

  • Please be sure good hygiene is practiced prior to arrival at school and that your child has brushed their teeth and wears deodorant where developmentally appropriate.

  • As St. Catherine of Siena Academy recognizes the parents and guardians as the primary educators of their children, we realize that each parent knows their child best. Simple, neutral makeup may be worn by young ladies at the discretion of the parent.

TOP

Polo shirt* 
- Solid white or navy blue 
- May be long or short sleeved 

Cardigan, Sweater or Blazer
- Solid navy blue
- Optional on regular days, must be worn for Mass days

Button-up shirt* (optional)
- Solid white 
- May be long or short sleeved

Sweater vest (optional)
- Solid navy blue

BOTTOM

BOYS

Dress pants or shorts
- Solid khaki or navy blue
- Length must extend beyond fingertips
- No cargo pants or shorts

Socks
- Solid white or navy blue

Shoes - Solid black, brown or navy with a closed toe and sturdy sole. Shoes with non-marking soles must be worn for gym; sneakers may be worn for gym only.

GIRLS

Dress pants or shorts, skort, jumper dress - Solid khaki or navy blue
- Length must extend beyond fingertips - No cargo pants or shorts - Biker shorts must be worn under jumpers and skirts that do not have built-in shorts

Socks
- Solid white or navy blue

Tights
- Solid white, navy blue or gray

Shoes - Solid black, brown or navy with a closed toe and sturdy sole. Shoes with non-marking soles must be worn for gym; sneakers may be worn for gym only.
